WARRIORS RE-WRITE RECORD BOOKS IN 3-0 SWEEP

Boone, IA – The No. 15 nationally ranked Indian Hills Volleyball squad closed out its 2024 regular season slate with a 3-0 sweep of Des Moines Area Community College on the road. Indian Hills heads into postseason competition with a 23-9 overall record.

The Warriors secured their 11th 3-0 sweep of the year after blanking the Bears in straight sets, 25-13, 25-17, and 25-21. Monday's win gave the Warriors the regular season sweep over the Bears after taking both matchups in 2024. Indian Hills has now defeated DMACC in eight consecutive matches dating back to 2021 while winning eight straight in Boone dating back to the 2015 season.

Sophomore All-American Sara Van Gisteren (Leuth, Netherlands/Young Talent Academy ROC Nijmegen) moved into sole possession of fourth place on the all-time career kills leaderboard at Indian Hills after putting home 13 in the win. Van Gisteren's 1,013 kills over the past two seasons surpassed former teammate Kinga Michalska's 1,010 kills. Van Gisteren is now just 15 kills away from moving into second-place all-time in the Indian Hills record books. Van Gisteren's 560 kills in 2024 now rank fourth all-time for a single season total, moving ahead of Olesya Bakhareva's 558 in 2005.

Fellow sophomore Ana Carolina Westerich (Blumenau, Brazil/Colégio Energia) continued to climb the record books as well as the setter notched 36 assists in the win. Westerich moves into fourth-place in career assists with 2,576, jumping ahead of former Warrior Katherine Soddy (2013-14).

Freshman Joanna Pawlik (Lublin, Poland/Nauczycieli Tajnego Nauczania) was a force at the net for the Warriors, tallying nine kills with just one attacking error for a .471 hitting percentage in the win. Piper Nelson (Atkins, IA/Benton) added eight kills and seven digs for the Warriors.

Sabrina Nogueira Da Silva (São Paulo, Brazil/Colégio Campos Salles), who ranks fourth in school history in career digs, added 10 digs for the Warriors. Da Silva now sits at 1,229 for her career.

The Warriors saw four individuals with multiple service aces in the win, including Asialin Powell (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt), Aleksandra Oles (Tomaszów Lubelski, Poland/1 LO Tomaszów Lubelski), and Daniela De Los Santos Castillo (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Colegio los Clavelines).

The Warriors now turn their attention to postseason play with the upcoming National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Volleyball Midwest District Tournament November 8-10. The Warriors will learn their matchup and bracket in the coming days.
