MICHEL LANDS THIRD STRAIGHT COACH OF THE YEAR HONOR

Ottumwa, IA – For the third consecutive year, Indian Hills Volleyball Head Coach Lyndsey Michel has been tapped as the Iowa Community College Atheltic Conference (ICCAC) DI Volleyball Coach of the Year, announced by the conference office on Thursday.

Michel lands her fourth coach of the year honor in the last six seasons after guiding the Warriors to their third consecutive National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Volleyball Midwest District Championship. With the District title, Michel and the Warriors will now compete in their third consecutive NJCAA National Championship, set for November 20-23 in Clarksville, TN.

Michel guided four individuals onto the NJCAA All-Region 11 team while sophomore Sara Van Gisteren (Leuth, Netherlands/Young Talent Academy ROC Nijmegen) was named the 2024 ICCAC DI Volleyball Player of the Year.

Indian Hills put together a 25-9 overall record on the year, the 10th time winning at least 20 games in 13 seasons at the helm of the program for Michel. The Warriors rattled off eight consecutive wins to close out the year and punch its automatic bid to the national tournament. Throughout the year, the Warriors were ranked in all 11 polls, climbing as high as No. 10 in the nation, and have now been ranked in 17 consecutive polls.

On the year, the Warriors collected 12 wins over teams that appeared in the national rankings, including four wins over teams that competed at last year's national championships. Indian Hills also tallied 16 wins vs. teams with at least 20 wins, including five against teams with at least 30 wins this year.

Statistically, the Warriors ranked fourth in the nation in service aces, fifth in assists, sixth in total points, and eighth nationally in kills.

With her four career postseason accolades, Michel is now tied for most career ICCAC Coach of the Year honors.

Indian Hills is set to take on No. 3 seed New Mexico Military Institute Wednesday, November 20 at 10:00 AM in the opening round of the national tournament.
