JANUARY HY-VEE STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE MONTH

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Athletic Department has announced its Hy-Vee January Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Month. Sophomore Jocelyn Maw (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) of the Indian Hills Cheer & Dance team and Terrick Johnson (Memphis, TN/Whitehaven) of the Indian Hills Men's Track & Field team have been honored.

Maw, a member of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Academic All-Region team following the fall term, served as an instrumental part of the Warriors' trip to the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Game Day Nationals in Orlando, FL. As a team, the Warriors placed seventh overall in the Game Day routine, the first time in program history competing in the event.

A two-year member of the Indian Hills Cheer & Dance team, Maw has also been an instrumental leader on the sidelines at home basketball games for the program.

Terrick Johnson made national headlines for the No. 1 nationally ranked men's track team as the sophomore was named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Athlete of the Week for his performance. Competing at Wendy's Pitt State Invite, Johnson set the meet record in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:09.50 and followed up in the men's 4x400-meter relay to set another meet record with a first-place time of 3:08.69.

Johnson, a First-Team Academic All-Region selection in the fall semester, now owns two top-five marks in school history and has qualified for the upcoming NJCAA National Championship in March.

Each month, with the support of the local Ottumwa Hy-Vee, the Indian Hills Athletic Department selects a male and female student-athlete of the month based on their academic and athletic performances throughout the previous month. Fans can catch interviews of each student-athlete from Ottumwa's South Hy-Vee on the GoHillsTV Facebook Page.
