LSU INVITATIONAL RECAP

The Warriors continued to take on some of the top collegiate track programs in the nation with the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge on Saturday, toeing the line with the likes of SEC powerhouse programs LSU, Georgia, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and others throughout the nation.

On the men's side, sophomore Tyrice Taylor (Linstead, Jamaica/Vere Technical) starred in the 800-meter run to take the individual title with a time of 1:48.29, edging out runners from Florida State, Arkansas, Florida, and Auburn. The school record holder now owns three individual titles this outdoor season along with a runner-up finish.

Traunard Folson (Jacksonville, FL/Andrew Jackson) continued to make headlines on the sprint track as the sophomore held his own against highly favored competition. Folson ran the 10th fastest 100-meter time in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) history with a wind-legal time of 10.06 to place fifth overall. Folson followed up with a second-place finish in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 20.53, finishing only behind US Olympian Vernon Norwood and was good enough for third all-time in school history.

The men's 4x100 quarter of Stephen Brown (Pontiac, MI/Lake Orion), Folson, Amos Oruamabo (Jacksonville, FL Ribault), and Michael Blank (Cedar Rapids, IA/Cedar Rapids Washington) nearly set a school record with a time of 40.02 to place fifth overall while the 4x400-meter relay squad took third overall.

On the women's side, Shanice Cox (Minneapolis, MN/Minneapolis South) and Adalin Robinson (Riverdale, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt) highlighted a big day in the short distance events. Cox put together two strong performances, hitting a new personal best in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.71 while winning her 200-meter dash heat with a time of 24.06 to place in the top-20 overall. Robinson also took home a top-20 finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.13.

Freshman Zekira Snow (Brandon, FL/Bloomingdale) took home an 11th place finish in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.39 meters.

DRAKE RELAYS RECAP

One of the most coveted events in the nation each year, the Warriors have constantly made headlines at The Blue Oval in Des Moines. 2024 proved no different as freshman Anthony Ward (Madison, WI/Madison Memorial) jumped to a first-place finish in the men's triple jump. Ward put together a dominant performance with a mark of 14.97 meters to outlast the 17-athlete field. Ward becomes the fifth Drake Relays champion for the Warriors in the last five years.

Freshman Brandon Ford (Perth, Western Australia/Duncraig) broke his own school record in the men's 5000-meter run with a mark of 14:22.63 to place eighth overall on Thursday night for the Warriors.

On the women's side, freshman Dymonde Nave (Sioux Falls, SD/Sioux Falls Lincoln) competed in the women's 100-meter hurdles for the Warriors, posting a time of 14.14.

KIP JANVRIN RECAP

The Warriors sent a bevy of athletes to the historic Kip Janvrin Open at Buxton Stadium on the campus of Simpson College on Thursday and Friday. Leading the charge was sophomore Cadence Bass (Kansas City, KS/Park Hill) who posted a first-place finish with a mark of 1.95-meters.
