Warriors Brave Chilly Conditions in Mason City

Trent Smith Invite

Mason City, Iowa -- Indian Hills competed in the Trent Smith Invitational along with 12 other schools who braved the 30-degree windchills and 20 mile-an-hour winds on Friday.

The Warriors placed 8th in the meet that included NCAA DII, NJCAA and NAIA colleges.  IHCC was 53 points behind Hawkeye CC, ranked 18th in the latest national poll.

"Our guys really fought hard despite the poor conditions," said Indian Hills coach Brent Ewing.  "Several athletes were within striking distance of their personal bests, which tells me they're ready to run fast come postseason.  Jacob Glandon stepped up big for us, running a personal best and finishing as our fifth runner.  Conner Riley led the way once again and was just 26 seconds off his lifetime best in the 8,000 meter distance.  We ran without our top-five runner, Micha Reed.  Micha will return to the lineup in the Region XI Championships and we're hoping we can place in the top four as a team with Micha back."

Indian Hills will host the region championships on Oct. 25 at the Cedar Creek Golf Course in Ottumwa.
