WARRIORS SET FOR REGION XI CHAMPIONSHIP

Fort Dodge, IA – The Indian Hills Men's and Women's Cross Country teams are set to head to Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge, IA on Sunday for the 2022 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Region XI Championship.

Action gets underway at 11:00 AM with the women's 5k event followed by the mens 8k event at 12:00 PM. The women enter the championship ranked No. 19 in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll and third among Division I programs in Iowa. The men are ranked No 24 in the national rankings and third in the region.

COURSE MAP: Women's 5K  |  Men's 8K

The women will be led by freshman Alyssa Shannon (Newton, IA/Newton) who is a two-time NJCAA DI Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week. Shannon recently eclipsed the 20-minute barrier for the Warriors. The freshman's season best time of 19:50 ranks inside the top-10 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference this year.

Sophomores Lizeth Flores (Harvard, IL/Harvard) and Morgan Klaus (Bloomfield, IA/Davis County) brings previous experience to the championship after competing as freshman a year ago.

The women have posted back-to-back third-place finishes at the region championship and are coming off their best-ever finish at a national tournament last year with a 15th-place showing.

Brady Millikin (Hedrick, IA/Pekin) has continued to reach new heights on the men's side this year. The sophomore standout has earned conference and national recognition this year while setting a school record along the way.

Sunday's championship will be the first time Indian Hills has competed against any of the NJCAA DI Cross Country programs from Iowa. Iowa Central heads into the meet as the top-ranked team from the region on both the men's and women's sides. The Iowa Central men have won eight consecutive region titles while the women have won 12 consecutive championships.
