With 20 games on the road to open the season, the Warriors are set for its home opener against the Golden Eagles of Rock Valley.

LEADING OFF

The Warriors enter the weekend series with a 14-6 overall record after wining seven games in a row, all on the road.

  • Indian Hills is coming off a doubleheader sweep over North Central Missouri College on Thursday where the Warriors took game one 1-0 before a season-high 18 runs in an 18-1 vicotry in the nightcap.
  • During the team's seven-game winning streak, the Warriors have outscored their opponents 73-21 with a .362 team batting average.
  • After hitting just eight home runs in the team's first 14 games of the year, the Warriors have hit 12 in their last six outings.

NO-NO FOOLIN'

Sophomore Madie Anderson (Mt. Pleasant, IA/Winfield Mt. Union) heads into the first day of April with two no-hitters in her last three outings for the Warriors.

  • Anderson blanked Iowa Western Community College in a 7-0 conference win on March 24 with five strikeouts before holding North Central Missouri hitless in a 1-0 contest on Thursday.
  • Anderson has allowed just one earned run in her last 22.1 innings of work while striking out 18 batters with just five hits allowed.
  • The righty is 22-6 all-time in the circle for the Warriors with a lifetime 2.10 earned run average.

WARRIORS TO WATCH

  • Freshman Julia Kwakernaak (The Hague, Netherlands/Segbroek College) has made an immediate impact at the plate for the Warriors and currently leads the team with a .478 batting average. Kwakernaak delivered the game-winning RBI single in the 1-0 win over North Central Missouri on Thurdsday.
  • Returning All-American Destiny Lewis is riding an eight-game hitting streak, the third time in her career the sophomore has hit in at least eight consecutive games.
  • Jenna Lemley (Troy Mills, IA/North Linn) continues to produce at the plate with a .426 batting average, including a .500 clip in the team's last eight games.
  • Sophomore Ryann Cheek (Eldridge, IA/North Scott) lowered her season earned run average to a team-best 1.25 Thursday and has allowed just two hits in her last three appearances.

LAST TIME OUT

The Warriors and Golden Eagles squared off for the first time last season with a doubleheader in Ottumwa and a single game in East Peoria, IL.

  • Rock Valley defeated the Warriors 10-6 at Thome Field in East Peoria on April 23 while the Warriors won the first two games of the series, 13-5 and 2-0 at R.L. Hellyer Field.
  • Destiny Lewis and Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) each hit two home runs in the series while Ryann Cheek and Madie Anderson recorded the two wins in the circle.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES

The perennial national contender in the NJCAA Division III ranks with eight consecutive national championships, the Golden Eagles made the move to the NJCAA Division II level for the 2023 season.

  • Rock Valley enters the weekend sporting a 16-3 overall record and are currently ranked No. 14 in the national rankings.
  • The Golden Eagles boast a .356 team batting average with four individuals sporting a batting average of .419 or better.
  • Madison Carlson leads the way on both sides for the Golden Eagles with a team-high .484 batting average while posting an 8-1 record with a 1.98 earned run average in the circle.
