DES MOINES, IA – Like their counterparts on the men's side, the Indian Hills women's track and field squad pulled double duty this past weekend as the Warriors took part in portions of both the Drake Relays in Des Moines, and the Kip Janvrin Open at Simpson College in Indianola.

IHCC's weekend was highlighted by seeing four school records fall at the sight of "America's Athletic Classic" at historic Drake Stadium as three individual events and one relay had new Indian Hills all-time standards set.

Freshman Lauren Upmeyer continued her burst onto the javelin scene as the former Vinton-Shellsburg prep collected sixth place in the collegiate division with a school-record toss of 38.08 meters.  It was just Upmeyer's second time competing in the javelin, and after the two performances and just three weeks of practice, she is now ranked in the top eight nationally in the NJCAA ranks.

Recent transfer Peyton Steva continues to reset the IHCC record in the 100 meter hurdles each time on the track as she sprinted to a 15.00 clocking, which netted the blank native eighth place

Kahliyah Anderson wrote another chapter in her outstanding freshman campaign on the blue oval as she broke the 400-meter school record with a time of 58.03 which was good enough for 10th place.  The Texan now owns IHCC all-time bests in the 100, 200, and 400-meter events and has anchored school record setting marks in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.  Anderson teamed with Aimaya Drummond, Kylar Brown, and Temira Goods to reset the 4x400 record this weekend with a 3:52.45 time in the day's final event at Drake.  The Warriors' effort in the 4x400 netted them seventh place.

IHCC Head Coach Brent Ewing also made note of personal bests that came from sophomore Destiny Lottie and freshman Malama Toure.  Lottie ran 59.11 seconds in the 400 meters and 25.61 in the 200 meters at Drake while Toure leapt to her season's best in the triple jump with a mark of 10.30 meters in Indianola.

"Destiny is an incredibly hard worker, and I was proud to see her hard work pay off," Ewing said.  "I was also pleased to see Malama have one of her best performances all year.  She brings a great attitude to every practice, and that's just part of what makes Malama such a valuable member of our team."

The Warriors will compete in just one event this coming weekend, but it's an important one as IHCC takes part in the Region XI Outdoor Championships, hosted by Iowa Western in Council Bluffs on Saturday and Sunday.
