SCHOOL RECORDS FALL AT CYCLONE OPEN

Ames, IA – A number of school records fell on Saturday as the Indian Hills Women's Track & Field program competed at the Cyclone Open on the Iowa State University campus.

Just one week removed from falling a second shy of setting a school record, the women's 4x400 relay team set the new program standard with a time of 3:48.76 to place second behind the University of Minnesota. The Warrior quartet was comprised of Aimaya Drummond (San Antonio, TX/San Antonio Brennan), Aliyah Simmons (Miami, FL/North Miami), Temira Goods (Des Moines, IA/Des Moines Hoover) and Kahliyah Anderson (Texarkana, TX/Texas). Anderson anchored the school-record performance with a split of 56.2.

The reigning National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Athlete of the Week, Simmons' individual efforts were once again on full display as the sophomore broke her own school record in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.48. Simmons' time is the top mark in the nation.

Anderson placed fourth overall in the 400-meter dash, shattering her own school record with a time of 55.94 to qualify for the upcoming indoor national championships. Anderson's time is also the top current mark in the NJCAA. Along with Anderson's showing, Drummond and Goods finished back-to-back in the event and now own the second and third fastest times in school history, respectively, behind Anderson.

Monse Guerrero-Chapula (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) ran to a school record in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:35.08. Isabelle Mellin (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) also put together a strong effort in the event with a time of 11:50.84, a top-five mark in school history.

Siby Yao (Leesburg, VA/Riverside) placed third overall in the long jump with a school record mark of 5.41-meters. Yao also placed second overall in the triple jump with a mark of 11.04-meters.

Next up for the Warriors is the Mark Schuck Open at the Myers Field House in Mankato, MN Jan. 28-29.
