CYCLONE OPEN RESULTS  |  LARRY WIECZOREK RESULTS

Iowa City, IA – The Indian Hills Women's Track & Field team opened up its 2024 campaign over the weekend at both the Cyclone Open in Ames, IA and the annual Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City, IA. The Warriors saw a number of school records fall along with multiple national qualifying marks.

Freshman Dymond Nave (Sioux Falls, SD/Sioux Falls Lincoln) broke a three-year old school record in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.79 in the prelims on Saturday in Iowa City.

Freshman Arriana Johnson (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt) continued to thrive in the women's pentathlon, breaking her own school record with 2,823 points on Friday. Johnson placed ninth overall in the high jump and 10th overall in the 60mH to set a new Indian Hills standard.

Freshman teammates Selket Reid-El (Jacksonville, FL/Raines) and Amaree Hamilton (Lansing, IL/Hillcrest) shattered previous personal-best times by over 10 seconds each in the 800-meter dash Friday in Ames to rewrite the Indian Hills record book. Reid-El shaved off 10 seconds to post the second-fastest mark in school history at 2:20:57 while Hamilton followed up with a 14-second personal best time of 2:21.41, the third-best mark in school history. Both marks were good enough to reach national qualifying standards for the freshmen duo.

The women's 4x400-meter relay squad made headlines on Saturday in Iowa City with a second-place finish and a national qualifying mark of 3:54.05. The Warrior quartet of Laurie Louis (Miami, FL/North Miami), Nyla Norman (Evansdale, IA/Waterloo East), Shanice Cox (Minneapolis, MN/Minneapolis South), and Kenyatta Grate (British Virgin Islands/Elmore Stout) finished less than seconds off of first-place and four seconds ahead of third-place Wisconsin. The mark also ranks as the third-fastest time in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) this year.

Cox also produced a dominant individual performance in the women's 200-meter dash. The sophomore placed third overall with a time of 24.66 as the Warriors saw three individuals in the top-five and five in the top-10. Grate placed fourth overall in the event followed by a fifth-place finish from Louis.

Zekira Snow (Brandon, FL/Bloomingdale) led the Warriors on consecutive days in the 60-meter dash. Snow led four Warriors in the top-six on Friday at the Cyclone Open with a time of 7.71 followed by Destiny Mitchell (Milwaukee, WI/Milwaukee Riverside) and Kourtlyn Cannon (Country Club Hills, IL/Rich Township) at 7.74 while Cox posted a time of 7.78. Snow also posted a time of 7.75 on Saturday in Iowa City.

As a team, six different individuals have now hit national qualifying marks in the 60m dash.

Following the team's impressive weekend, the Warriors entered the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Midwest Regional Rankings at No. 2 with 448.95 points.
