NO. 10 WARRIORS COMPETE AT ICHABOD INVITE

Topeka, KS – The No. 10 nationally ranked Indian Hills Women's Track & Field squad took on the Ichabod Invitational at Washburn University over the weekend, bringing home a number of top-five school performances.

The 200-meter squad put together a strong showing with three personal best performances for the Warriors led by Shanice Cox's (Minneapolis, MN/Minneapolis South) fifth-place finish with a time of 24.46. Cox's time, ranked third in school history, was good enough for the sophomore's fifth top-five finish in the event this year.

Joining Cox in 200m dash was Nyla Norman (Evansdale, IA/Waterloo East) who placed seventh overall with a personal best mark of 24.65, fourth-best in school history and Kenyatta Grate (British, Virgin Islands/Elmore Stout) who placed eighth overall with a time of 24.66, the fifth-fastest mark in school history.

The middle distance duo of Amaree Hamilton (Lansing, IL/Hillcrest) and Selket Reid-El (Jacksonville, FL/Raines) produced a pair of strong performances in two separate events. Hamilton produced a personal best time of 1:28.76 in the 600-yard run to place ninth overall for the Warriors. Hamilton's time was good enough for third all-time in school history. Reid-el followed behind Hamilton in the 600y with a time of 1:29.97 for a 13th place finish.

In the 800-meter run, Hamilton ran another personal best mark with a time of 2:20.14 to place 16th for the Warriors which now ranks third-best in school history. Reid-el followed suit with a strong showing of her own to place 19th overall out of 51 participants.

Along with Norman's effort in the 200m dash, the freshman cruised to the program's top time in the 400-meter dash this year with a mark of 57.37 to place fifth overall. Norman cemented her name in the Indian Hills record books with the second-fastest time in school history.

Fellow freshman Laurie Louis (Miami, FL/North Miami) clocked in at 58.23 in the 400m to produce the fifth-fastest mark in school history for the Warriors.

Freshman Destiny Mithcell (Milwaukee, WI/Milwaukee Riverside) tied for third overall in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.55 meters, clearing three of her first four attempts on the day.

The Ichabod Invite was the final tune-up for the Warriors prior to postseason action. Indian Hills is set for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 11 Indoor Championship Feb. 16-17 at the Lambert Recreation Center in Storm Lake, IA.
