WARRIORS TAKE THREE TITLES, SET TWO RECORDS IN AMES

Ames, IA – A pair of school records highlighted an impressive showing at the Iowa State Holiday Invitational for the Indian Hills Women's Track & Field squad on Saturday. The Warriors tacked on three first-place finishes on the day.

All-American Dymonde Nave (Sioux Falls, SD/Sioux Falls Lincoln) continued an unprecedented run to open her sophomore campaign. Nave, the reigning National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week, broke her own school record in both the prelims and the finals to run away with the top spot with a mark of 8.49 seconds. After posting a mark of 8.60 in the opening round, Nave ran away in the championship dash, winning the event by .20 seconds for her second title in as many meets.

Nave has now captured five career first-place titles in hurdle events. The sophomore has now placed first overall at the Iowa State Holiday Invitational in back-to-back years after wining last year's event. Nave has managed to shave off .40 seconds from last year's mark at Iowa State.

Tiffani Koonce (Prairie City, IA/Prairie City-Monroe) broke her second school record in as many weeks as the freshman shattered the women's 3,000-meter run record on Saturday. Koonce ran a time of 10:53.11, nearly 30 seconds ahead of the previous Indian Hills top time. Koonce's mark was good enough for eighth overall in the event.

The Warriors starred in the women's sprint events on Saturday. In the 60-meter dash, Avia Lane (Nashville, TN/Beech) cruised to a first-place finish with a time of 7.60, the fourth-fastest time in school history. Lane was followed by Zekira Snow (Brandon, FL/Bloomingdale) who posted a personal-best time of 7.63 to place second. Snow's mark is good enough for fifth all-time at Indian Hills. Sophomore Destiny Mitchell (Milwaukee, WI/Milwaukee Riverside) rounded out the top-five with a fifth-place finish and a time of 7.76 for the Warriors.

Snow took home the title in the women's 200-meter dash in her first outing in the event this year. Snow crossed the line in 25.05, just 0.03 ahead of teammate Nyla Norman (Evansdale, IA/Waterloo East) who placed second overall. Laurie Louis (Miami, FL/North Miami) gave the Warriors a clean sweep in the top-three as the sophomore finished third overall with a mark of 25.28.

Louis and Norman added top-five finishes to their bib in the women's 400-meter dash. Louis placed third overall with a personal-best mark of 57.58, the fifth-fastest mark in school history. Norman clocked in at 58.02 to place fifth overall.

The Warriors head into the holiday break before returning to action January 17 at the Nebraska Graduate Classic in Lincoln, NE.
