2025 PTK ALL IOWA ACADEMIC TEAM
Des Moines, IA – Three members of the Indian Hills Athletic Department have been named to the 2025 Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society All Iowa Academic Team, announced by Community Colleges for Iowa. The three individuals are among 79 students to earn the prestigious honor across the 15 community colleges in the state of Iowa.
Two members of the Indian Hills Baseball team – sophomores Tijmen Nagel (Amsterdam, the Netherlands/Roc Amsterdam) and Owen Corbett (Oswego, IL/Oswego) were joined by Maria Eduarda Rodrigues Da Silva (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Colégio Estadual Barão do Rio Branco) of the Indian Hills Cheer and Dance team. The individuals were nominated for their outstanding achievements in the classroom.
Nagel is in his final season with the Warriors and is working towards an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree with a focus on International Business. Throughout his time at Indian Hills, Nagel has been named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Academic All-Region First-Team (3.5-4.0 GPA) four times. Last season, Nagel was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Academic First-Team for maintaining a cumulative 4.0 GPA throughout the 2023-24 academic year. Nagel's future plans include moving on to a four-year university to study business and to work in the professional sports industry.
Corbett is in his second year with the Indian Hills Baseball team as a primary pitcher. Corbett is majoring in business while competing for the Warriors. As a freshman last season, Corbett was named to the NJCAA All-Academic Second-Team (3.8-3.99 GPA) and was twice named to the ICCAC All-Academic First-Team (3.5-4.0 GPA). Corbett was also selected to the ICCAC All-Academic First-Team during the fall 2024 term. Corbett's future plans include playing baseball at the next level while earning a business degree.
Eduarda Rodrigues Da Silva is in her first season competing for the Indian Hills Cheer and Dance squad. At Indian Hills, she is pursuing an Associate of Applied Science in Interactive Media Technology degree as well as an Associate of Arts degree. At Indian Hills, Eduarda Rodrigues Da Silva serves as president of the Phi Theta Kappa chapter as well as president of the Interactive Media Club and the International Student Organization. During the fall term, she was named to the ICCAC All-Academic First-Team (3.5-4.0) and helped the cheer program capture the World Championship at the UCA Gameday Nationals in Orlando, FL in January.
This year's PTK All Iowa Academic Team will be formally recognized Tuesday, February 18 in Des Moines.
