WARRIORS THIRD BEHIND THREE ALL-AMERICAN PERFORMANCES

Newton, KS – For the 18th time in program history, the Indian Hills Men's Golf team placed in the top-three in the team standings of the National Junior College Athletic Association  (NJCAA) Men's Golf National Championship leaderboard. The Warriors placed third overall in the 24-team field after surging on the final day of action.

The Warriors fired a 21-over, 1,173 to make their 10th top-three finish in the last 15 seasons alone. Indian Hills posted round scores of 287-294-292-300-1,173 to finish behind team champion Midland College (TX) and runner-up Odessa College (TX). The Warriors tied for the lowest fourth round in the tournament to jump Hutchinson Community College (KS) for sole possession of third-place at the conclusion of the tournament.

The Warriors were led by three individual All-American performances as Charlie Preston (Hampshire, United Kingdom/The Sixth Form College Farnborough), Emilio Arellano Lamas (Aguascalientes, Mexico/Instituto Universitario Mexico), and Carl Knauer (Stenungsund, Sweden/Nosnas) placed 10th, 11th, and 17th, respectively to earn NJCAA All-American accolades.

Preston sparked the Warriors' surge up the leaderboard after an impressive 4-under, 68 in the third round to keep Indian Hills within striking distance of the team title. Preston fired seven birdies on Thursday before carrying that success into the final round where the freshman tallied four more birdies to finish the final 18 holes with a 1-under, 71. Preston finished the tournament with a 2-over, 290.

Arrelano Lamas, recently named an NJCAA PING All-American, tied for 11th overall with a 3-over, 291. Arrelano Lamas carried a consistent presence on the course over the span of all four days of competition. The sophomore fired round scores of 72-70-74-75-291 to earn a spot on the NJCAA All-American squad.

Knauer proved to be the driving force through the first two rounds to keep the Warriors in contention. The freshman posted round scores of 70-72-75-76-293, including nine birdies through the first 36 holes of action.

Nathan Poucholon (Aix-en-Provence, France/Lycée Georges Duby) tied for 34th overall for the Warriors, posting a 12-over, 300, including an opening round 1-under, 71.

The Warriors' position in the top-three further solidifies the dominance of the Indian Hills Men's Golf squad over the past two decades since joining the NJCAA DI ranks. Since 2004, the Warriors have placed outside of the top-10 just twice while winning six national titles in a 14-year span.
