NO. 6 WARRIORS TAKE TEAM TITLE AT WIU INTERCOLLEGIATE

Silvis, IL – The No. 6 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Golf squad took home a first-place finish at the Western Illinois University Intercollegiate on Saturday, running away from the nine-team field to win by 15 strokes at TPC Deere Run.

The Warriors captured their second team title of the year after posting a 28-over, 880. Indian Hills shot a tournament-low 289 in the opening round before closing out the two-day, 54-hole event with round sores of 290 and 301. The Warriors outlasted tournament host Western Illinois University who placed second followed by North Dakota University, University of Northern Iowa, and Eastern Illinois University.

Indian Hills has now taken the team title at the Western Illinois University Intercollegiate in back-to-back years.

Sophomore Nathan Pouchoulon (Aix-en-Provence, France/Lycée Georges Duby) produced his most impressive showing of the spring season with a second-place finish in the 64-player field. Pouchoulon finished the tournament with a 4-over, 217, shooting round scores of 73-69-75. Pouchoulon, who tallied seven birdies for the Warriors, was one of just three individuals to post a round in the 60's and finished just two strokes off the top spot on the leaderboard.

Sophomore Emilio Arellano Lamas (Aguascalientes, Mexico/Instituto Universitario Mexico), ranked No. 11 in the latest individual national rankings, tied for seventh overall with a 7-over, 220. Arellano Lamas, who fired an opening round 71, collected his fourth top-10 finish of the year and fifth of his career.

Freshmen Roman Roth (Wayland, IA/Washington) and Charlie Preston (Hampshire, United Kingdom/The Sixth Form College Farnborough) tied for 11th overall for the Warriors after posting a 9-over, 222. Jedd Thomas (Sydney, Australia/St. Paul's Catholic) tied for 18th overall in the individual standings with a 14-over, 227 while Daniel Freeman (Auckland, New Zealand/Auckland Grammar) tied for 22nd overall with a 16-over, 229. Freeman led the Warriors with eight birdies, tied for the fourth-most in the tournament.

Freshman Carl Knauer (Stenungsund, Sweden/Nosnas) rounded out the individual performances for the Warriors, tied for 39th overall.

Pouchoulon becomes the sixth different individual to lead the Warriors in an event during the 2024-25 campaign.

The Warriors wrap up their regular season portion of the schedule with the Wright State Invitaitonal April 13-14 at the Heatherwoode Golf Club in Springboro, OH.
