In a span of 15 seasons between 1991 and 2005, the Indian Hills Softball program punched its ticket to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament all 15 years, capturing region and district titles during each campaign. Two of those seasons saw one of the most dominant pitchers in the nation, Tracee Collins, post record-breaking numbers that still stand to this day.

On Saturday night, the winningest pitcher in school history will officially be inducted into the Indian Hills Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2024 with a ceremony at halftime of the Indian Hills Men's Basketball game.

Collins powered the Warriors in the circle through a dominant era of Indian Hills softball. The hard-throwing pitcher collected 54 career wins between the 1996 and 1997 seasons, a record that has yet to be broken.

Collins helped guide the Warriors to back-to-back NJCAA National Tournaments in Hutchinson, KS, including a seventh-place showing in 1996. The two seasons with Collins at the helm of the pitching staff saw the Warriors post its two winningest seasons in school history to date – a 60-10 record in 1996 followed by a 58-8 mark in 1997. On the biggest stage at the national tournament, Collins was at the forefront of the staff, collecting a pair of wins for the Warriors.

A two-time NJCAA Region 11 First-Team selection, Collins left Indian Hills with seven school records, three that still stand to this day. Collins remains the winningest pitcher in a single season with 29 victories in 1997 while her 54 career wins and 53 complete games remain atop the record book. Collins also ranks second in school history in total innings pitched (376.0), and career saves (9).

Following a standout career in Ottumwa, Collins capped a stellar two seasons at William Penn University where she captured Louisville Slugger / National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region honors. Collins still ranks in the top-10 all-time in William Penn history in career earned run average.

Collins becomes the 17th member of the Indian Hills Softball program to be inducted into the Indian Hills Athletics Hall of Fame.

Former teammate Jamie Cook on Tracee Collins

"Tracee had so much passion and love for the game when she was on the mound. She was a fierce leader, fierce competitor, and a fierce friend. She kept everyone in check if we weren't doing what we needed to be doing, but also would get us going when we were struggling.

A fun fact – one thing is coach couldn't let her bat as every time she would talk him into it, she would end up getting hit by the ball, either by the pitcher or off her own bat!"
