Newton, KS – The No. 6 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Golf squad is set to take on the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Golf National Preview this week to close out the fall season.

TEEING OFF

The annual NJCAA National Preview, an opportunity for teams around the nation to compete at this year's national championship course during the fall season, is set to get underway Thursday morning.

  • Indian Hills will head to Newton, KS for its final competition of the fall season ranked No. 6 in the latest NJCAA Clippd Powered by Scoreboard National Rankings, announced Wednesday afternoon.
  • All five individuals competing for the Warriors this week are ranked inside the top-55 players in the nation, led by No. 11 Emilio Arellano Lamas and No. 17 Roman Roth.
  • The Warriors will be one of 15 teams across six NJCAA regions competing at the national preview.
  • Indian Hills has put together a strong fall campaign that includes a victory at the Blue River Clasic and a fifth-place finish at the Tommie Invitational.
  • The Warriors have competed at the NJCAA National Preview five times in the last seven seasons. Indian Hills placed sixth overall last year while the program's best finish came in 2017 with a runner-up perfromance.

WARRIORS AT SAND CREEK

The Warriors have made Sand Creek Station Golf Course their home away from home over the last 12 years as Indian Hills looks to take advantage of its familiarity with the course.

  • Indian Hills will be competing at the Sand Creek for the second time in as many tournaments after placing 10th at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational October 6-8.
  • Sand Creek Station will serve as the host site for the 2025 NJCAA DI Men's Golf National Championship, scheduled for May 13-16.
  • Three of the Warriors' seven team national titles have come at Sand Creek - 2023, 2015, and 2012. 
  • Along with the three titles at Sand Creek, Indian Hills has taken a number of regular season titles at the course as well, including the 2023 Bethany College Classic and the 2019 Tabor Fall Invitational.

SCOUTING THE COURSE

One of the top courses to play in the state of Kansas, the Jeff Brauer signature course opened in 2006 and has played host to major tournaments such as the USGA Championship.

  • The par-72 course runs 7,497 yards with a 77.0 rating and 144 slope.
  • The course features four par 3 holes (#3, #7, #13, #17) and four par 5 holes (#2, #4, #10, #16)

SCOUTING THE FIELD

Seven teams competing this week are ranked inside the top-10 in the nation while all 15 programs earned a spot in the top-45 teams in the latest NJCAA rankings.

  • The field features No. 2 Odessa, No. 3 Hutchinson, No. 4 North Idaho, No. 7 McLennan, No. 8 New Mexico, No. 9 Weatherford, and No. 10 Western Texas.
  • Six of the top-11 nationally ranked individuals in the NJCAA will be competing this week.
  • Odessa (2023) and New Mexico (2022) have won the last two NJCAA Previews.
  • Indian Hills has competed against two program's in this week's field - Hutchinson and Dodge City, both at the Grier Jones Shocker Invite at Sand Creek.
