PRESTON'S DEBUT SPARKS WARRIORS AT LINDENWOOD INVITE

St. Charles, MO – The No. 6 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Golf squad opened its spring campaign with an impressive showing at the Lindenwood Invitational, placing second overall with a 22-over par.

Making his collegiate debut, freshman Charlie Preston (Hampshire, United Kingdom/The Sixth Form College Farnborough) put together a dominant effort, capturing medalist honors with a first-place finish. Preston finished with a 7-under 206, winning the 36-hole event by four strokes.

The Warriors finished second overall in the six-team field as the lone junior college program. Indian Hills fired round scores of 288-299-287-874 to finish just five strokes off first-place and tournament host Lindenwood University. The Warriors' strung together their best performance of the weekend on the final day with a third-round best 3-over, 287.

Preston, who joined the Warriors for the spring campaign, led wire-to-wire after an opening round 7-under, 64. The freshman followed up with a 2-over in the second round before closing out the tournament with a 2-under, 69. Preston was one of just three individuals to finish the tournament under par while firing a tournament-best 18 birdies

Sophomore Emilio Arellano Lamas (Aguascalientes, Mexico/Instituto Universitario Mexico), ranked No. 8 in the nation in the latest individual rankings, placed eighth overall with a 5-over 218. Lamas improved in each of his rounds, finishing the tournament with an even par in the third round for his fourth top-10 finish of the year.

Nathan Pouchoulon (Aix-en-Provence, France/Lycée Georges Duby), who like Preston, recently joined the Warriors for the spring term and cracked the top-10 for the Warriors with a six-over 219. After back-to-back rounds of 74, Pouchloulon fired a 71 in the third round to aid in the Warriors' strong effort on the final day.

Freshman Daniel Freeman (Auckland, New Zealand/Auckland Grammar) tied for 11th overall after firing a 71 in the final day to climb nine spots on the leaderboard. Fellow freshman Jedd Thomas (Sydney, Australia/St. Paul's Catholic) placed 13th overall with a nine-over. Carl Knauer (Stenungsund, Sweden/Nosnas) tied for 14th overall for the Warriors with a 10-over.

The Warriors return to action at the Don Benbow Butler Spring Invitational at Highland Country Club in Indianapolis, IN March 31-April 1.
