Another Big Day for Shackleford in Warrior Win

Ottumwa -- Akean Shackleford scored four goals and, for good measure, assisted on another as Indian Hills posted an 8-0 shutout win against Northeast (Neb.) at the IHCC field on Saturday.

The Warriors showed no ill effects of playing for the third time in four days, jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead before Shackleford took over.  The sophomore tallied three straight goals in the opening half before adding a fourth score -- his 22nd of the season -- in the final half.  The 22 goals he has amassed already this fall equal the number Shackleford scored last year, when he was named IHCC's first-ever soccer All-American.  It was the 4th time this season and the 7th time in two years he has had at least three goals in a game.

Alcides Duarte began the IHCC goal barrage with an unassisted socre, his second of the season, in the 10th minute.  Nathaniel Mederos Fonda followed six minutes later with his 6th goal to up the lead to 2-0.  Shackleford's initial goal came in the 20th minute and he had another one a minute later.  Shackleford's 3rd goal came just before halftime and it was 5-0 Warriors.

Reshon Phillip, who had assists on three of the IHCC goals, got one of his own in the second half, his 8th of the year.  After Shackleford scored again, assisted by Phillip and Victor Hugo, Mattheus Albuquerque found the back of the net for his 2nd goal to complete the shutout win.

IHCC goalkeeper Ross Dalton made five saves.

The Warriors outscored their three opponents, 16-1, in the busy week and stayed perfect in conference play with their 6th win in a row.  They are 11-1 overall.

After a week to rest, Indian Hills returns to action next Saturday in a match at Iowa Lakes.  The Warriors already own a 4-1 league win against the Lakers.
