BAUER, MANZANO SWEEP ICCAC AWARDS

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomores Lucas Bauer (Oldenburg, Germany/__) and Bernardo Manzano (Palmas, Brazil/Layton Christian Academy) of the No. 4 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Soccer squad have been tapped as this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week.

The duo helped the Warriors to a pair of victories last week while pushing the team's unbeaten streak to five games to start the year, the best in program history. On Tuesday, the program ascended to No. 4 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Soccer poll, the highest mark in the history of Indian Hills soccer.

Bauer, one of the top returners from last year's national tournament run for the Warriors, has gotten off to another strong start in 2024. The sophomore tallied a goal and two assists to lead Indian Hills to a 3-1 win over Lincoln Trail College (IL) and a 6-0 shutout of Western Nebraska Community College.

Bauer recorded two assists in the win over District foe Lincoln Trail on Wednesday. Bauer assisted on the game's first goal and provided a late insurance helper, delivering an assist on a corner kick with less than five minutes to play to put the game out of reach. Bauer added a goal in the Warriors' win over Western Nebraska, his second of the year.

Bauer currently ranks second on the team with eight points on the year and surpassed 20 career points over the weekend.

Manzano earns his second consecutive ICCAC DI Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week award after leading the Warriors from the backline. The sophomore keeper earned a complete game victory over Lincoln Trail with a season-high four saves before shutting out Western Nebraska in the first half to earn the win.

Manzano currently leads the nation with his five wins to open the year. Manzano, who boasts the most minutes played in the nation with 391:00 on the year, owns a 0.46 goals against average to go along with an .846 save percentage.

The Warriors return to action Wednesday afternoon for a 1:00 PM matchup against Iowa Lakes Community College in Spencer, IA.
