LAZARO, ETIENNE-COURTOIS SWEEP ICCAC HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – Following two top-15 road wins last week, the No. 1 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Soccer team swept the weekly Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week honors.

Freshman Diego Lazaro (Laval, Canada/Horizon-Jeunesse) powered the offense to earn ICCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors while sophomore Sacha Etienne-Courtois (Quebec, Canada/College Francais) anchored the backline to earn ICCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

The duo helped the Warriors secure road wins at No. 4 Cowley College (KS) and No. 13 Illinois Central Community College. The two wins pushed Indian Hills' record to 9-0-1 on the year, catapulting the Warriors to the No. 1 rank in the national polls for the first time in program history.

Lazaro was instrumental on the attack for the Warriors, securing the game-winning goal in each contest last week for the Warriors. The freshman midfielder buried the go-ahead goal in the 76th minute to knock off Cowley. Lazaro headed home a corner kick against Illinois Central in the 65th minute to put the Warriors up 2-1 before adding an assist on an insurance goal in the 79th minute.

Etienne-Courtois emerged on the defensive front for the Warriors last week, limiting the opposition to just two goals in the two contests. Etienne-Courtois has started five of the past six games on defense for the Warriors, a stretch that includes a pair of shutouts.

Indian Hills returns to action on Wednesday and Thursday of this week for the Barton Classic in Great Bend, KS. The Warriors take on Otero Junior College (CO) at 10:00 AM on Wednesday and No. 20 nationally ranked Barton Community College (KS) on Thursday.
