NO. 1 WARRIORS SUFFER FIRST LOSS

Council Bluffs, IA – No. 1 Indian Hills Men's Soccer suffered its first defeat of the year on Wedneaday, dropping an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) contest to No. 4 Iowa Western Community College 7-2. The Warriors fall to 13-1-2 on the year.

Indian Hills fell behind early as the Reivers struck with a pair of goals in the first two minutes of action. The two sides traded goals midway through the first half before Indian Hills tallied the last strike of the opening half to pull within one at the break, 3-2.

The Iowa Western offense came out of the intermission on a tear as the Reivers tallied two goals in less than two minutes to build a 5-2 advantage. Iowa Western added a pair of goals midway through the second stanza to run away with the conference win.

The loss snaps an unprecedented run for the Warriors that saw the 2024 campaign start with a 15-match unbeaten streak, its best start to a season in program history. The 13 wins on the year are currently tied for the second-most in school history, and most since the 2019 season.

Indian Hills' goals were scored by Lucas Bauer (Oldenburg, Germany/IGS Kreyenbruck) at the 13:20 mark of the first half, his 10th of the year on an assist from Tyrique Bailey-Edwards (Bridgetown, Barbados/The Alleyne School) and Alec Benny (Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago/Jamaica College) at the 30:37 mark, his second of the 2024 campaign.

With the win, Iowa Western advances to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Soccer Midwest District Tournament November 8-10. The Warriors, who have posted a 4-1-1 record against nationally ranked teams this year, will await a potential bid to the national tournament with one of the four at-large spots available.

The Warriors will close out the regular season with a home date against Crowder College (MO) at 1:00 PM on Monday afternoon where the sophomore class will be recognized prior to the start of the contest.
