In his seventh season at the helm of the program, head coach Brent Ewing will lead the Warriors to Nebraska to kick off the 2024 campaign.

STARTING LINE

Both programs will open up the season nationally ranked with the release of the 2024 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Preseason National Poll on Wednesday.

  • Coming off a historic season that saw the men's squad place 10th overall at last year's NJCAA National Championship, the Warriors enter the year ranked No. 8 in the preseason ratings.
  • The Warrior women garnered national attention in the preseason poll, checking in at No. 25 in the national rankings.
  • This year's Platte River Rumble will feature teams from Creighton, South Dakota, Omaha, Peru State, Missouri Western, Nebraska Kearney, and Northwest Missouri State.
  • Friday's meet will be the Warriors' first-ever trip to the Corhusker State to compete.

WARRIORS TO WATCH

The Warriors will open up 2024 with a fresh look to both the men's and women's rosters, bringing back just one returner overall from the 2023 campaiagn.

  • The lone returner is Brandon Ford - the top performer from last year's record-breaking campaign that set numerous cross country and track & field records. Ford captured All-American honors at the national championship with the program's highest individual finish in school history with a 14th place showing.
  • Sophomore transfer Cayde de Waal brings All-American experience from Colby Community College and will look to provide a formidable combination with Ford.
  • The Warrior women will roll a brand new lineup to open 2024 that features Tiffani Koonce, Shmyhia Morris, Raynisha Narcisse, Riley Vogel, and Jordyn Beck, also a member of the Indian Hills Softball squad.

EWING'S NOTES

"We're excited to get the 2024 season kicked off," stated Ewing. "Over the past month, we have put in a solid body of work that I am anxious to showcase. We have big goals for both teams this year. I believe our men are capable of being a top-five team nationally and our women have the ability to be a top-15 team. We're ready to get out here and compete and begin taking steps towards achieving these goals."

WHAT'S NEXT

Both squads will return to action September 20 with the Bradley Intercollegiate at Detweiller Park in Peoria, IL. At last year's Bradley Intercollegiate, Brandon Ford set the program's 8k school record.
