FORD SHATTERS RECORD AT PLATTE RIVER RUMBLE

2024 PLATTE RIVER RUMBLE RESULTS

Ashland, NE – Led by a record-breaking performance from sophomore All-American Brandon Ford (Perth, Western Australia/Duncraig), the No. 8 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Cross Country team put together an impressive showing at the Platte River Rumble on Friday night.

The Warriors placed sixth overall as the lone junior college program at the event behind Ford's new program-best mark in the 6k race. The sophomore posted a new personal best time of 18:14.49, shaving off more than 11 seconds from Ford's previous school record which was in his collegiate debut in 2023. Ford's performance was good enough for an eighth place finish in the field of 92 athletes.

Ford was joined by sophomore teammate Cayde de Waal (Brakpan, South Africa/Hoërskool Oosterlig), making his Indian Hills debut on Friday night. de Waal placed 15th overall for the Warriors with a time of 18:29.72, the third-fastest time in school history behind Ford's top two marks.

Freshman Bailey Taig (Perth, Western Australia / Quinn's Baptist College) finished as the third-fastest Warrior on Friday night with a time of 19:26.91 to place 57th overall. Joseph Bosch (Princeville, IL/Princeville) followed up with a time of 20:11.22 while Damien Sprouse finished two spots behind Bosch with a mark of 20:15.69. James House (Imperial, MO/Seckman) and Logan Rosas (Oakville, IA/Mediapolis) rounded out the field with times of 20:27.83 and 22:08.17, respectively.

Ford, who set three school record during his freshman campaign, currently ranks fourth in the nation in the men's 6k event following his performance Friday night.

The Warriors return to action on Friday, September 20 in Peoria, IL with the Bradley Intercollegiate at Detweiller Park. Last season at the Bradley Intercollegiate, the Warriors took third overall while Ford shattered the program's 8k school with a time of 24:07.30.
