Afton, Iowa -- The Indian Hills men's shorts shooting team picked up its 2nd fourth-place finish in as many weekends as the IHCC squad traveled to the Southwestern Invitational on Saturday. Shooting at the High Lakes Outdoor Alliance, Indian Hills was led by Brett Nace, who finished with a score of 95/100. Kurtis Doty and Tristan Schaefer tied with 91s, one shot ahead of a trio of IHCC shooters -- Cody Hindman, Luke Schlesselman, and Colton Selvy.
In the team standings, Iowa Central notched an easy win over runnerup Southeastern with IHCC five shots in back of Southwestern.
Mallory Shelton, representing the IHCC women's team had an 86.
"The conditions were less than ideal," said IHCC coach Jake Stalzer. "It was chilly, windy and rainy the entire day and it showed in everyone's scores because none of the teams shot as well as usual," according to the Indian Hills coach, who added, "I am proud of my team for sticking it out through the tough conditions and still shooting fairly well."
The next competition for Indian Hills will be at the Otter Creek Sportsman's Club in Cedar Rapids on Oct. 21 in a meet hosted by Kirkwood CC.
