Indian Hills Shoots at Hawkeye

Gonnerman

Waterloo, Iowa -- Indian Hills started their spring sports shooting schedule with a trip to take on Hawkeye CC last Saturday, with IHCC defeated 476-453, in a meet at the Izaak Walton League.  It was the first loss within the division for the Indian Hills squad, putting their record at 3-1.

Coach Jake Stalzer said there were some positives despite the loss.  He noted that Shayla Rotenburger took the first-place medal in the ladies division with her score of 95.  Karson Gonnerman shot the best round of his Indian Hills career, firing a 94.  Jason Herr was next for IHCC with a 90.

"A few of our normal top shooters started out a bit rusty at our first competition of the year," Stalzer noted.  "But we will work this week at practice to regain our focus and get them back on track to where I know they can be for next weekend's competition."

Indian Hills travels to shoot against Southeastern next Saturday, Apr. 13, at the Tri-State Gun Club in Montrose, taking on an SCC team that Stalzer describes as "tough."
