ELLIOTT POWERS WARRIORS TO WIN

Ottumwa, IA – Jaxton Elliott (Bloomfield, IA/Ottumwa) led the way for the Indian Hills Sports Shooting team on Saturday morning to carry the Warriors to a 467-412 victory over visiting Northeast Iowa Community College. The Warriors improve to 2-1 overall on the year.

Competing in its second dual in as many days, the Warriors put together a strong showing from its top shooters. Elliott, who led the Warriors in a loss to Southeastern on Friday night, finished with a 96 overall for the second day in a row to win top medalist honors for Indian Hills.

"It was great to get back on track today with a win over Northeast Iowa," stated head coach Jake Stalzer. "Exciting to see Jaxton fire back-to-back 96's this weekend and bring home men's gold today."

On the ladies side, Camme Barber (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) took home top female medalist honors for the second consecutive night after shooting an 80. JoAnna McKim (Richland, IA/Pekin) placed second overall on the ladies side in her first competition of the year with a 53.

Along with Elliott, the men were powered by three scorers who shot a 93 on the day. Josh Meyer (Bettendorf, IA/Bettendorf), Kolton Kopsieker (Ollie, IA/Pekin), and Landon Hubble all tied for the second-highest mark on the day.

"Awesome day for Landon Hubble as he shot not only his first 25 straight ever, but did it twice in a row to end his day with 50 straight," added Stalzer. Hubble was competing in his first competition of the year on Saturday.

Zach Ross (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) placed fifth overall with a 90 to cap the scoring for the Warriors.

"We just have to continue working on being more consistent and have everyone on on the same day. Another big weekend coming up as we travel to take on Iowa Western," Stalzer added."

Indian Hills heads to Iowa Western Community College for a non-division matchup on Oct. 1 at the Harry Koch Trap & Skeet.
