KOPSIEKER'S PROGRAM RECORD LEADS WARRIORS

Cedar Rapids, IA – Freshman Kolton Kopsieker (Ollie, IA/Pekin) set a new standard for the Indian Hills Sports Shooting squad as the Warriors defeated Kirkwood Community College 480-437 on Wednesday. The Warriors improve to 3-2 overall on the year.

Kopsieker became the first Warrior in program history to shoot a perfect score of 100. The freshman has now improved on his score in each of the team's last four meets, including a score of 98 on Friday against Iowa Western Community College. The Warriors' previous best mark came from Tristan Schaefer in 2017 with a score of 99.

Kopsieker's program record came on one of the most prolific scoring days in team history for head coach Jake Stalzer. The team's overall score of 480, a season-high, is just one off of the program record of 481.

"We had a great day of shooting today," Stalzer stated. "We had great efforts all around from our team and it was good to see that heading into nationals this week."

Along with Kopsieker's total, the Warriors added eight more shooters with a score of 90 or better on the day. Zach Ross (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) placed third overall with a score of 96. Ross posted a perfect opening round of 25.

Jaxton Elliott (Bloomfield, IA/Ottumwa) continued to put up solid numbers for the Warriors with a 95 overall. Elliott closed out the meet with a 25 in the final round to finish with his fourth consecutive outing of 95 or better. Josh Meyer (Bettendorf, IA/Bettendorf) bounced back on Sunday with a 95 and finished with back-to-back rounds of 25 for the Warriors.

Sophomore Camme Barber (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) recorded her second consecutive meet in the 90's with a score of 93 to place third overall in the female scoring.

The Warriors are set to head to the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) Collegiate Nationals in Marengo, OH Oct. 7-10 at The Cardinal Center.
