WARRIORS PLACE SECOND AT NATIONALS

Marengo, OH – The Indian Hills Sports Shooting squad finished as runners-up at the 2021 SCTP Collegiate Nationals. The four-day event concluded with impressive individual performances across the board for the Warriors.

"We had a great showing at the 2021 SCTP Collegiate Nationals," stated head coach Jake Stalzer. "The weather was great for us which was good for putting up solid scores, and I feel like we did. Overall, I'm happy with how we shot. It's great going on an out-of-state trip with the team and to an event where all the disciplines are shot and count towards your overall team score. Each year we have improved since we have been going out to compete at the event."

The Warriors placed second overall in Division IV, the junior college division, finishing behind in-state opponent Hawkeye Community College. Indian Hills posted its second and third highest marks of the season in trap shooting with a 475 on Saturday and a 476 on Sunday for a total of 951.

The Warriors were led individually by sophomore Josh Meyer (Bettendorf, IA/Bettendorf) who missed only five trap targets all weekend to post a 195/200. Meyer's performance was good enough for 33rd overall out of 189 male shooters.

Kolton Kopsieker (Ollie, IA/Pekin) and Meyer led Indian Hills in skeet throughout the weekend. Kopsieker placed 21st overall with a 195 while Meyer placed 33rd with a 194 out of a total of 173 shooters. The Warriors missed out on first-place in skeet by just 11 total targets.

In sporting clays, Nathan Dunsbergen (Knoxville, IA/Pella) finished 79th overall with a total of 186 targets while Kopsieker's 185 targets was good enough for 81st place out of 163 shooters.

On the female side, Camme Barber (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) placed sixth overall out of 23 shooters in the 5-stand competition. Barber also placed 16th overall in sporting clays and 27th overall in skeet.

The Warriors' overall team total score of 2,788 was its best showing at the nationals event, improving by 363 total targets from a year ago.
