2023-24 INDIAN HILLS SPORTS SHOOTING SCHEDULE
Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Sports Shooting squad has released its schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 campaign. The Warriors are set to open the season September 9.
Under sixth-year head coach Jake Stalzer, the Warriors' schedule features a mix of competitive Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) action along with a number of attractive shoots against prominent four-year universities. The Warriors will compete in all three disciplines throughout the year – trap, skeet, and sporting clays.
Indian Hills kicks off the season in Cedar Rapids, IA September 9 with the ICCAC East Division Trap Triangular. The Warriors will square off against Kirkwood Community College and Northeast Iowa Community College at the Otter Creek Sportsman's Club.
The Warriors will head to the Simpson Open September 16-17 in Indianola, IA to take on a number of four-year institutions. Simpson is coming off a dominant season that saw the program capture multiple team and individual honors at the National Collegiate Shooting Sports Athletics Association (NCSSAA) in Las Vegas, NV. The Warriors will also head to the Grand View Open in Waukee, IA on October 7-8. Both events will feature all three disciplines.
"This is our first year competing in these types of shoots so we are definitely excited to go up against tough competition with mostly four-year colleges shooting," stated Stalzer. "It will also be good exposure for our shoots wanting to transfer on after graduation from Indian Hills."
Indian Hills is one of three teams in the ICCAC East Division to compete in the skeet and sporting clays discipline. The Warriors will take on Hawkeye Community College and Southeastern Community College in the ICCAC East Division Skeet & Sporting Clays triangular at the Izaak Walton League in Oskaloosa, IA on September 23.
The Warriors will also take on Hawkeye and Southeastern in ICCAC Trap Dual action. Indian Hills will travel to Hawkeye in Waterloo, IA on October 6 and will host Southeastern on October 14 at the Izaak Walton League in Ottumwa.
The 2023 ICCAC/SCTP State Championship is set for October 21-22 at the New Pioneer Gun Club in Waukee, IA.
Following the completion of the fall schedule, the Warriors will head into 2024 with the Simpson Shootout March 3-4 in Waukee, IA to gear up for the 2024 ACUI/SCTP Collegiate Clay Target Championship at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, TX.
