WARRIORS PLACE FOURTH AT SIMPSON INVITE

Waukee, IA – The Indian Hills Sports Shooting squad wrapped up the two-day Simpson Invite on Sunday with a fourth place showing at the New Pioneer Gun Club. The Warriors totaled a team score of 1,471 across the four disciplines.

Freshmen Cooper Clark (Story City, IA/Roland Story) and Carson Abrams (Oskaloosa, IA/Pella Christian) paced the Warriors with a 304 and 302 High Overall (HOA), respectively to place in the top-30 in the 132-athlete field. Competing as the lone junior college program in the event, the Warriors saw a number of strong individual performances in each of the four disciplines – trap, sporting clays, skeet, and super sporting.

Clark led the Warriors with a 304 HOA after producing a team-best 95 in skeet. Clark also connected on 92 trap targets and went for a team-high 42 targets in the super sporting discipline.

Abrams' 302 was aided by a team-high 85 targets in sporting clays. Abrams also added a 92 in skeet and 87 in trap for the Warriors.

Adam Eischen (New Sharon, IA/North Mahaska), the reigning Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week, added a 289 HOA to place third overall for the Warriors. Eischen totaled a 93 in trap along with an 83 in skeet.

Freshman Raymond Franzen (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) produced his best performance of his collegiate career with a team-high 98 trap targets. Teammates Kyler Schwartz (Burlington, IA/Burlington) and Haley Byrge (Chilton, WI/Chilton) connected on 95 trap targets as eight different individuals tallied a 92 or better for the Warriors.

Schwartz and Mason Herrington (Eldridge, IA/North Scott) rounded out the top-five individual HOA performances for the Warriors as both freshman tallied a 288 in Waukee.

The Warriors return to ICCAC action on September 23 with sporting clays and skeet action against Hawkeye Community College and Southeastern Community College in Oskaloosa, IA.
