Ottumwa -- The Indian Hills women's cross country squad hosted the first meet in program history on Friday at the Cedar Creek Golf Course.  The IHCC team placed all three of its runners in the top 20 in the Region XI Time Trials, run over a 5K course at Cedar Creek.

The Warriors were led by freshman Shiggo Shadin, who had a strong finish to cross the line in 16th place with a time of 23:11.  Sophomores Morgan Lawson and Halley Wilmes were right behind in 18th and 20th place, respectively.  Lawson's time of 23:16 was just nine seconds off her previous college best.

IHCC head coach Brent Ewing said, "The coaching staff was very impressed with the women.  They ran a very smart and steady race.  They're a close group talent-wise, which helps from a training and racing standpoint.  They're able to pack up and stay together.  I'm very excited to see their progression this fall."

The women will run at the John Kurtis Fall Invite hosted by Wartburg College on Saturday, Sept. 7.
