WARRIORS WIN TEAM TITLE AT TRENT SMITH INVITE

Mason City, IA – Freshman Lizeth Flores (Harvard, IL/Harvard) posted a fourth-place overall finish at the Trent Smith Invitational to lead No. 17 Indian Hills Women's Cross Country to the team title on Friday night. The Warriors placed four runners inside the top-eight for its best team finish of the year.

Flores sprinted to a personal best time of 21:38 to lead the Warriors, ranked No. 17 in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national poll. Fellow freshman Isabelle Mellin (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) placed fifth overall with a time of 21:49 followed by Morgan Klaus' (Bloomfield, IA/Davis County) seventh-place finish with a time of 21:59.

Monse Chapula (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) ran a strong race for the Warriors with a time of 22:08 to place eighth overall. Alexia McClure (Eldon, IA/Cardinal) rounded out the scoring for the Warriors with a time of 22:33 to finish 11th overall.

The Warriors have now placed second and first overall, respectively, in back-to-back races to set the tone for the team's upcoming home meet to close out the regular season.

The Indian Hills Invitational is set for Oct. 15 at 4:00 PM at the Cedar Creek Golf Course in Ottumwa.
