INDIAN HILLS HY-VEE MALE STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

The Indian Hills Athletic Department has announced its Hy-Vee November Male Student-Athlete of the Month. Sophomore Daniel Mulero (Asturias, Spain/Salesianos Santo Angel Aviles) of the Indian Hills Men's Soccer team has been honored for his academic and athletic success.

Mulero capped a record-breaking career at Indian Hills with a selection to the National Junior College Atheltic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Soccer All-American team. Mulero was named to the NJCAA All-America First-Team after a breakout sophomore campaign, just the third first-team All-American in school history.

Mulero produced one of the most dominant individual seasons in school history to land on the All-America team for the Warriors. The sophomore ranked third in the nation with 49 points, the second-most in a single season in program history. Mulero tallied a school record 19 assists, third-most in the nation, to go along with 15 goals, tied for the fifth-most in a single season in school history.

The midfielder tallied at least one point in 17 of the 20 matches he participated in this year, including 11 matches with at least three points. Mulero recorded a career-high six points after tallying a school record four assists to go along with a goal in a 5-2 win over Jefferson College (MO). Mulero also added four assists in a thrilling 5-4 win over #19 Lewis & Clark College (IL) on October 18.

Mulero starred in the national tournament for the Warriors, powering Indian Hills to the semifinals for the first time in school history. The sophomore tallied seven points in three matches with three assists and a pair of goals to earn a spot on the NJCAA All-Tournament Team.

A four-time Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week and a member of the NJCAA All-Region 11 First-Team, Mulero was the only player in the nation to record at least 15 goals and 15 assists on the year and one of just four individuals with double-digit goals and assists in 2024.

Mulero closed out his Indian Hills career with a school record 24 assists over the past two seasons while his 60 career points are second-most all-time. Mulero also ranks fourth all-time with 18 goals.

Mulero is an Elementary Education major at Indian Hills.
