Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Emilio Arellano Lamas (Aguascalientes, Mexico/Instituto Universitario Mexico) of the No. 4 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Golf team secured his first collegiate victory last week. For his efforts, Arellano Lamas has been named this week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Golf Athlete of the Weke.
Arellano Lamas led the Warriors to a dominant performance at the Blue River Classic in Lincoln, NE as Indian Hills took top team honors, winning the event by 34 strokes. Lamas sat atop the leaderboard at the conclusion of the 54-hole tournament with a 10-under, 206.
The lone sophomore returner from last year's squad, Arellano Lamas led the 84-player field with 20 birdies throughout the three rounds. Arellano Lamas posted round scores of 68-70-68 to fire a personal best in his debut for the 2024-25 campaign.
As a team, the Warriors led start-to-finish at the event with round scores of 279-274-279-832 to run away with the title in their season opener. Indian Hills produced the five lowest individual scores of the tournament.
The Warriors return to action September 23-24 at the Zach Johnson Invitational at Glen Oaks Golf Course in Des Moines, IA.
