Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Jedd Thomas (Sydney, Australia/St. Paul's Catholic) of the No. 4 ranked Indian Hills Men's Golf team has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Golf Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Thomas led the Warriors at the Tommie Invitational in Stillwater, MN with an impressive showing. The freshman tied for eighth place overall with a 5-over, 221 to earn his second top-10 finish of the year. Thomas fired round scores of 74-74-73 to help the Warriors earn a fifth-place team finish at Stoneridge Golf Club.
Thomas fired nine birdies over the course of the two-day, 54-hole event, including four birdies in the final round to climb eight spots on the last day of competition. The freshman's third round 71 was tied for the fifth-lowest round of the tournament, and tied for the third-lowest third round mark.
Thomas becomes the third different member of the Indian Hills Golf squad to earn ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors this year, joining teammates Roman Roth (Wayland, IA/Washington) and Emilio Arellano Lamas Aguascalientes, Mexico/Instituto Universitario Mexico).
