Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Men's Golf squad climbed to No. 5 in the latest national rankings, announced Wednesday afternoon. The Warriors cracked the top-five following a strong start to its spring season.
The Warriors earned 81.30 points in the latest Scoreboard Powered by Clippd rankings. Indian Hills sits behind top-ranked Midland College (TX), Odessa College (TX), Hutchinson Community College (KS), and New Mexico Junior College.
Indian Hills is coming off a first-place finish at the Western Illinois University Intercollegiate on April 14 where the Warriors defeated the nine-team field comprised of NCAA DI programs by 15 strokes. Through three spring events, that Warriors have earned a 1st, 2nd, and 7th place team finish.
Along with the team's jump in the national rankings, a number of individuals saw movement in the ratings.
Following his individual victory at the Lindenwood Invitational in his collegiate debut, freshman Charlie Preston (Hampshire, United Kingdom/The Sixth Form College Farnborough) surged to No. 7 in the rankings. Sophomore Emilio Arellano Lamas (Aguascalientes, Mexico/Instituto Universitario Mexico) checked in at No. 13 while Nathan Pouchoulon (Aix-en-Provence, France/Lycée Georges Duby) surged from unranked to No. 29 in the nation.
Freshmen Jedd Thomas (Sydney, Australia/St. Paul's Catholic) and Roman Roth (Wayland, IA/Washington) checked in at No. 34 and No. 35, respectively while Daniel Freeman (Auckland, New Zealand/Auckland Grammar) rounded out the group with a spot at No. 59 in the rankings.
The Warriors are set to close out the regular season portion of their schedule with a trip to the Wright State Invitational April 13-14 in Springboro, OH at the Heatherwoode Golf Club.
