TCHANBI, WALDEN SHINE AT KT WOODMAN CLASSIC

Wichita, KS –  For the second consecutive week, the Indian Hills Men's Outdoor Track & Field program competed in Wichita, KS, bringing home multiple school records. The Warriors competed at the KT Woodman Classic at Cessna Stadium on the Wichita State University campus.

Aurel Tchanbi continued his drive to a national championship with a first-place finish in the men's 200-meter dash. Tchanbi crossed the line at 20.73, the top time in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) this year. The mark ranks second all-time in program history behind Olympian Kenny Bendarek's 19.49 in 2019. Tchanbi outran the entire field consisting of 89 sprinters from both four-year and two-year colleges.

Indian Hills was well-represented in the men's 100-meter dash event with a pair of top-five efforts. Competing for the first time this outdoor season, Damoy Allen (Utica, NY/Utica Proctor) placed fourth overall with a time of 10.35. Teammate Justin Walden (Miami, FL/North Miami) set a new personal record to place fifth overall with a time of 10.37. Both marks qualify for the outdoor national championship.

Walden also put together a strong showing in the 200-meter dash, placing sixth overall with a personal best time of 21.18. Isiah Thomas (Milwaukee, WI/Destiny) placed 10th in the event with a time of 21.46.

A pair of Warriors both qualified for the outdoor national championship in the men's 10,000-meter run. Isaac Bryant (Grinnell, IA/Grinnell-Newburg) crossed the line in 12th place with a time of 31:21.92 while Chris Metz (Freeport, IL/Freeport) came in 17th place with a time of 31:46.97. Both marks are personal bests for the sophomores.

JC Ramirez's strong season continued in the men's triple jump after setting a school record with a mark of 14.75-meters. The distance also qualifies for Ramirez, an indoor All-American, for the outdoor national championship.

The Warriors placed a pair of sprinters in the top-10 in the men's 400-meter dash. Kendrick Winfield (Louisville, KY/Louisville Male) placed seventh overall with a time of 48.57 while Kylen Crosby (Alpharetta, GA/Alpharetta) clocked in with a personal best time of 48.86 to place ninth overall.

Rivaldo Marshall (Kingston, Jamaica/Calabar) qualified for the outdoor national championship in the men's 1,500-meter run, clocking in with a time of 4:01.38 to finish as the third-fastest two-year student-athlete at the meet.

The Warriors now head to the Sooner Invitational April 15-16 in Norman, OK.
