MARSHALL LANDS SECOND NATIONAL HONOR

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Rivaldo Marshall (Kingston, Jamaica/Calabar) has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week. Marshall was also named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week.

The defending outdoor 800-meter national champion made headlines over the weekend after breaking the all-time, all-conditions indoor 800-meter National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) record at the Iowa State University Holiday Invite. Marshall ran to a record-breaking time of 1:48.46, surpassing the previous all-conditions mark by .07 seconds.

At the ISU Holiday Invite, Marshall was also a part of the first-place men's 4x400-meter relay squad.

Marshall has now won the USTFCCCA Athlete of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks after setting a new personal best in the men's 1,000-meter event last week at the Washburn University Alumni Invite.

Marshall becomes just the second individual in program history to earn national athlete of the week honors multiple times, joining former All-American and national champion Kenny Bednarek, a three-time honoree.

Marshall is joined by teammate Haleigh Hadley who was named the USTFCCCA National Female Athlete of the Week.
