MEN'S TRACK CLIMBS TO NO. 3 IN NATIONALL POLL

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Men's Track & Field team climbed back up to No. 3 in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings. The Warriors moved up one spot from last week's spot at No. 4.

Along with the Warriors' national rank, Indian Hills ranks No. 2 in the latest USTFCCCA Midwest Regional Rankings and boast the top 1,000-meter mark event squad. Indian Hills also ranks No. 2 in the nation in the 60-meter dash, No. 2 in the 400-meter dash, No. 2 in the 600-meter run, and No. 2 in the 800-meter run.

Indian Hills is coming off another impressive performance in Ames, IA where the Warriors competed at the Iowa State Classic on Saturday. Led by a number of impressive individual performances, including freshman Tyrice Taylor's (Linstead, Jamaica/Linstead) historic effort in the 800-meter run, the Warriors continued to make a statement amongst the junior college track & field scene.

The Warriors currently boast 16 top-10 and eight top-5 marks in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Sophomore Rivaldo Marshall's (Kingston, Jamaica/Calabar) 1,000-meter mark of 2:23.23 is the fastest in the nation and ranks third all-time in NJCAA history in the event. Marshall also owns the second-fastest 800-meter mark in NJCAA history.

Taylor put together a remarkable performance over the weekend at the Iowa State Classic as the freshman mid-stance standout ran the fourth-fastest 800m time in NJCAA history and ranks second in school history, only to Marshall.

Sophomore Khalid Hornsby (Greenbelt, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt) has led the charge for the Warrior sprinters with a top-mark of 6.73 in the 60-meter dash which ranks fifth in the NJCAA this year. Traunard Folson (Jacksonville, FL/Andrew Jackson), Nehemiah Ray (Chicago, IL/Brother Rice), and D'Eric Smith (Bridgeton, NJ/Ankeny Centennial) also have contributed top marks to the 60-meter dash event squad.

Hornsby also ranks fifth in the men's 200-meter dash this season with a time of 21.33.

Troy Johson (Lancaster, PA/J.P. McCaskey) and Chris Sizemore (Speedwell, VA/Rural Retreat) have anchored the Warrior jumpers as squad ranks 11th nationally.

Indian Hills wraps up its regular season portion of its indoor schedule with a trip to the 8th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic hosted by Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS Feb. 10-11. Following the Warriors' trip to Pittsburg, the team will set its sights on the NJCAA Region XI Championship in Storm Lake, IA February 17-18.
