EWING NAMED USTFCCCA REGION COACH OF THE YEAR

Topeka, KS – Indian Hills Men's  Track & Field Head Coach Brent Ewing has been named the 2023 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Midwest Region Men's Coach of the Year, announced Saturday afternoon.

Ewing was recognized during the 2023 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships at Washburn University in Topeka, KS. The award is the first in Ewing's career and becomes the first coach outside of Iowa Central Community College or Iowa Western Community College to win the prestigious honor since its inception in 2015.

Ewing helped guide the men's program to a third-place team finish at the 2023 NJCAA Region XI Championship in Storm Lake, IA on February 18. The Warriors earned three individual championships at the meet and picked up 11 top-three performances ahead of the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship.

Ewing, who is in his fifth season at the helm of the Indian Hills Track & Field program, has led the program to a spot in the top-six in the national rankings throughout the year, reaching as high as No. 3 in the USTFCCCA poll. Indian Hills entered the national championship ranked No. 6 in the nation and No. 3 in the Midwest Region to go along with six top-five event squads.

The Warriors currently boast the No. 2 event squad in four events – the 60-meter dash, the 400-meter dash, the 600-meter run, the 800-meter run, and the 1,000-meter run.

Along with Ewing's Coach of the Year honor, sophomore standout Rivaldo Marshall has been named the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Athlete of the Year.
