GILES EARNS ICCAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Chris Giles (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge) captured two individual titles at the Emporia Relays on Saturday to lead the Indian Hills Men's Track & Field squad to a second-place team finish. Giles has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week for his efforts.

In the team's opening outdoor meet of the season, Giles produced two dominant performances. Giles took home first-place honors in the men's 200-meter and 400-meter titles to score 20 team points for the Warriors.

Giles' performance in the 400m saw the second-fastest time in school history with a mark of 46.24. Giles' time is only behind former Indian Hills standout and Olympic silver medalist Kenny Bednarek. The time also broke a 26-year old meet record at the Emporia Relays.

The freshman also added a personal best time of 21.25 to win the 200m event. The time qualifies Giles for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Hobbs, NM on May 18.

Giles and the Warriors will now head to the Friends University Invitational in Wichita, KS March 31 – April 1.
