GILES' TOP MARK EARNS FOURTH ICCAC HONOR

Ottumwa, IA – Chris Giles (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge) continues to light up the track for the Indian Hills Men's Track & Field squad. The freshman has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season.

Competing at the coveted LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge, LA on Saturday, Giles etched his name atop the national leaderboard with a remarkable performance in the men's 400-meter dash. Up against top NCAA DI programs such as Florida, Arkansas, Georgia, and Alabama, Giles placed third overall in the 37-athlete field with a time of 45.34.

Giles' mark is currently the top mark in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and is the fastest time by any athlete in the nation since 2019 when former Warrior standout Kenny Bednarek broke 45 seconds. Giles' mark is the 10th fastest all-time mark in the NJCAA and is currently the No. 2 time in the world among athletes 20 years of age or younger.

Giles currently ranks No. 1 in the NJCAA in the 400m, No. 4 in the 200m, and No. 7 in the 100m.

Indian Hills is set to compete at the NJCAA Region XI Championships this weekend in Council Bluffs, IA. Action gets underway Friday at Iowa Western Community College.
