MARSHALL NAMED ICCAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Ottumwa, IA – Following another record-breaking performance, sophomore Rivaldo Marshall (Kingston, Jamaica/Calabar) has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week for the Indian Hills Men's Track & Field squad.

Marshall has now been named the ICCAC Athlete of the Week six times this season and eight times throughout his career.

At the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Outdoor Track & Field Region 11 Championships, Marshall came home with two region titles – an individual championship and a relay title while setting new region records while doing so. Marshall has now collected six NJCAA Region 11 titles throughout his Indian Hills career.

At the 2023 NJCAA Region 11 Championships in Council Bluffs, Marshall captured the 800-meter championship with the fastest-time in the nation this year. Marshall's mark of 1:47.35 set a new NJCAA Region 11 championship record and is the eighth-fastest time in NJCAA history.

Marshall followed up his individual title with another region record in the men's 4x400-meter relay. Marshall teamed up fellow Warriors Chris Johnson, Ke'vontae Walls-Burdine, and Tyrice Taylor to take the title with a time of 3:06.30, winning by more than seven seconds and breaking the previous record by more than two seconds.

Marshall's two championships garnered 20 team points during the championship to help lead the Warriors to a third-place team finish.

Marshall and the Warriors will now turn their attention to the upcoming NJCAA DI Outdoor Track & Field National Championship May 18-20 in Hobbs, NM. Marshall has won two consecutive national championships – the 2023 indoor 800m national championship and the 2022 outdoor 800m national title.
