MARSHALL NAMED OUTDOOR ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Ottumwa, IA – After another record-breaking season, sophomore Rivaldo Marshall (Kingston, Jamaica/Calabar) has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.

Marshall, who was awarded the ICCAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year back in March, becomes the fourth individual in ICCAC history to sweep the indoor and outdoor Athlete of the Year honors in the same season, and second in Indian Hills history, joining former national champion Kenny Bednarek.

Following a record-breaking indoor season, Marshall continued to produce remarkable performances in the outdoor track season for the Warriors. Marshall captured the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 11 800-meter run championship with a new region record time of 1:47.35, the eighth-fastest time in NJCAA history.

Marshall also teamed up with the men's 4x400-meter relay squad at the region championships with a region record time of 3:06.30. The two titles gave Marshall six region championships throughout his Indian Hills career – four individual titles and a pair of region championships.

During the course of the outdoor season, Marshall also set a new school record in the men's 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:50.61. The standout sophomore now owns nine school records between the indoor and outdoor seasons for the Warriors.

Marshall, who has won back-to-back national championships with the 2022 NJCAA Outdoor 800m and the 2023 NJCAA Indoor 800m title, will now turn his attention to the upcoming 2023 NJCAA Outdoor National Championships May 18-20 in Hobbs, NM.
