JOHNSON SETS RECORD TO LEAD WARRIORS IN TOPEKA

Topeka, KS – The top-ranked team in the nation wrapped up its regular season portion of the indoor campaign with a strong showing at the Ichabod Invitational in Topeka, KS over the weekend.

The Indian Hills Men's Track & Field team continued its dominant run through the indoor season with a number of school and meet records at the Washburn University Indoor Athletic Facility. Indian Hills' performance came on the heels of a record-breaking performance at the 9th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic at Pittsburg State University on Friday night where the Distance Medley Relay squad shattered the national record.

The Warriors saw an impressive effort from its jumps and hurdles crew at the Ichabod Invite as sophomore Troy Johnson (Lancaster, PA/J.P. McCaskey) starred in the long jump and triple jump events. Johnson broke his own school record in the long jump to place second overall with a mark of 7.43 meters, which ranks No. 6 in the nation this year. Johnson also set a new personal record in the triple jump with a mark of 14.40 meters to place sixth overall.

Freshman Triston Miller (Columbus Junction, IA/Columbus Junction) set the meet record in the men's 60-meter hurdles, cruising to a 7.99 qualifying time in the prelims before placing second overall in the finals with a time of 7.88. Miller also took a top-10 finish in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.02 meters.

Freshman Anthony Ward (Madison, WI/Madison Memorial) also scored a personal best in the men's long jump with a distance of 7.24 meters to place seventh overall to go along with a fifth-place showing in the triple jump with a mark of 14.56 meters.

Brandon Ford (Perth, Australia/Duncraig) added another stellar effort to the Indian Hills record books as the distance phenom competed at both the Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg before capping the weekend at Washburn. Ford set the second-fastest 5,000-meter time in school history on Friday with a time of 14:47.04 before running an 8:32.97 3,000-meter on Saturday to place 13th overall.

Stephen Brown (Pontiac, MI/Lake Orion), the reigning Iowa Community College Athletic conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week, took seventh overall in the men's 60-meter dash after placing second overall in his heat with a time of 6.83. Brown also placed fifth overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.63, just head of teammate Chris Johnson (Houston, TX/Cypress Park) who placed sixth with a time of 21.64.

Sophomore Cole Reinders (Sarnia, Ontario/St. Patrick's Catholic) posted a second place finish in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.97, placing just ahead of teammate Terrick Johnson (Memphis, TN/Whitehaven) whose time of 1:53.05 was good enough for third overall.

In addition to the Warriors' DMR performance at Pitt State on Friday, sophomore Tray'Quan Francis (New Iberia, LA/Westgate) took top honors in the men's 600-yard run with a time of 1:12.15, placing first among 28 participants at the Robert W. Plaster Center. The victory was Francis' first of the indoor season for the Warriors.

The Ichabod Invite was the final tune-up for the Warriors prior to postseason action. Indian Hills is set for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 11 Indoor Championship Feb. 16-17 at the Lambert Recreation Center in Storm Lake, IA.
