WARRIORS RANKED NO. 1 AHEAD OF NATIONALS

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Men's Track & Field team will head to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Indoor Track & Field National Championships as the No. 1 team in the nation, announced in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll on Wednesday.

The Warriors maintained the No. 1 spot in the national poll for the fifth consecutive week following Wednesday's release. The Warriors, who earned the No. 1 national rank for the first time in program history this year, earned 401.99 points in this week's poll to sit ahead of Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) member Iowa Western Community College. South Plains College (TX), New Mexico Junior College, and Barton Community College (KS), round out the top five.

Indian Hills will head to next week's NJCAA National Championships in Gainesville, FL at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center to conclude its historic season. The Warriors will head to the Sunshine State with five individual national event leaders and 26 top-10 national marks.

Following a record-breaking performance at last week's NJCAA Region 11 Indoor Track & Field Championship, the Warriors boast the top marks in the nation in four individual events and a relay.

Freshman Triston Miller (Columbus Junction, IA/Columbus Junction), last week's 60-meter hurdle Region champion, owns the No. 1 mar in the nation with a time of 7.86 while fellow freshman Tate Joens (Cedar Rapids, IA/Cedar Rapids Prairie), this week's conference and national athlete of the week, exploded onto the scene over the weekend with the top mark in the NJCAA in the men's weight throw.

The Warriors also own the No. 1 1,000-meter time from Keveroy Venson (Linstead, Jamaica/Calabar) and the No. 1 600-meter time from Tyrice Taylor (Linstead, Jamaica/Vere Technical). The record-breaking Distance Medley Relay squad sits atop their respective event to give Indian Hills the most individual event leaders in the nation.

As a team, the Warriors rank No. 1 in three respective Event Squad categories – the 600m, 800m, and 1,000-meter events, tied for the most among all NJCAA programs this year.

Action from the two-day National Championship gets underway March 1.
