EWING NAMED USTFCCCA NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR

Ottumwa, IA – On the heels of the program's first-ever national championship, Indian Hills Men's Track & Field Head Coach Brent Ewing has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coach of the Year.

In a historic season for the Warriors, Ewing led the program to new heights, obtaining multiple national accolades and school records on the path to the 2024 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Indoor Men's Track & Field National Championship this past weekend in Gainesville, FL.

A program on the rise over the last several years, Ewing steered the Warriors to the program's first-ever No. 1 national ranking in the USTFCCCA polls, a spot the Warriors maintained throughout the duration of the year. The Warriors posted a second-place finish at the NJCAA Region 11 Championship in Storm Lake, IA, the program's highest finish in program history before taking on the national championships at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center.

In his sixth season at the helm of the program, Ewing led the Warriors to 91.5 team points at the national championship with five individual runner-up performances and a second-place relay showing. In total, the Warriors took home 15 USTFCCCA All-American honors.

The 2023-24 indoor campaign saw a number of school records and top marks. On February 9 at the 9th Annual Gorilla Classic at Pittsburg State University, the men's Distance Medley Relay made national history, breaking the NJCAA record with a time of 9:43.60. The program also set 14 school records on the year across both track and field events.

Ewing's accolade adds onto a lengthy resume throughout his tenure at Indian Hills. Ewing was most recently named the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Indoor Coach of the Year in 2023 and the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Outdoor Coach of the Year in 2021. Ewing was also tapped as the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year during the fall 2023 season.
