WARRIOR TRACK SHINES IN TEXAS, KANSAS

Austin, TX – The Indian Hills Men's Track & Field team took on a series of events over the weekend to open its outdoor season, competing at the Texas Relays in Ausitn, TX, the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, TX, and the Emporia State Relays in Emporia, KS.

The Warriors saw a number of impressive performances, including on one of the biggest stages of the year at the Texas Relays on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Competing in the 4x800 relay against some of the premiere NCAA DI programs in the nation, the Warriors took home a first-place finish and a school record.

The quartet of Jaquan Coke (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College), Nichalas Power (Riverton City, Jamaica), Kemarrio Bygrave (Kingston, Jamaica/Jamaica College), and Raynier Galvez (Paterson, NJ/Passaic County), the Warriors cruised to a time of 7:22.58 to take the top spot on the podium. The Warriors ran past the likes of Clemson University, BYU, and TCU to post the fourth-fastest time in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) history.

The Indian Hills throws program produced a series of dominant showings at the Emporia State Relays over the course of two days. Sophomore Tate Joens (Cedar Rapids, IA/Cedar Rapids Prairie), coming off a strong showing at the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, produced three top-two finishes, including a first-place finish.

Joens took home top honors in the hammer throw with a mark of 57.03 meters, the No. 3 mark in the nation currently in the NJCAA. Joens added a second-place finish in the discus with a personal best mark of 52.24m while finishing second overall in the shot put with a distance of 17.20m, a new Indian Hills school record.

Joens was joined by fellow teammate Kaden Banks (Onalaska, WI/Holmen) who placed first overall in the discus throw with a mark of 54.29m. Sophomore Michael Etuma (Iowa City, IA/Iowa City) placed third overall in the event with a mark of 51.77m as the Warriors swept the top three podium spots.

In the hammer throw, the Warriors secured four top-10 individual finishes with four top-15 national marks. Following Joens' first-place finish, Hadyn Stockdale (Cedar Rapids, IA/Cedar Rapids Prairie) and Etuma placed sixth and seventh overall, respectively, with the No. 9 and No. 10 marks in the nation this year. Terrance Powe Jr. (Niceville, FL/Niceville) placed ninth overall with the 13th best mark in the NJCAA in 2025.

Freshman Dantevius Boykin (Coffeyville, KS/Field Kindley) placed third overall in the men's triple jump at Emporia State, posting the second-best mark in the nation this year with a distance of 14.84m. Boykins' mark was good enough for No. 2 all-time in Indian Hills history.

In the men's open high jump, Kahuan Harris (Hopkins, MN/Hopkins) leaped to a mark of 1.91m to place third overall, the 13th best mark in the NJCAA this year.

Freshman Logan Rosas (Oakville, IA/Mediapolis) placed fourth overall in the men's 800m run at Emporia State, running to a time of 1:56.53. Teammate Paul Glon (Aveze, France/Lycée polyvalent Le Mans sud) placed fifth overall in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 53.83 followed by sophomore Anthony Duncan (Keosauqua, IA/Van Buren) who placed seventh overall with a time of 54.30.
