NO. 5 WARRIORS ENTERTAIN HOME CROWD

Centerville, IA – No. 5 Indian Hills Men's Wrestling rolled to a 27-9 victory over No. 10 Iowa Central Community College in the team's season-opening dual at the Indian Hills Multi-Purpose Building. The Warriors collected seven match wins to top the Tritons for the second consecutive year.

After a strong showing at the Falcon Invitational in Park City, KS this past weekend, the Warriors welcomed fans to a home contest for the first time in program history. In front of a sellout crowd, the Warriors claimed four decisions, one major decision, one technical fall, and one fall. In its second year of competition, the Warriors have now defeated Iowa Central in each of its two meetings.

Returning National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American and No. 1 ranked Caleb Meekins (Livonia, MI/John Glen) provided the highlight of the night for the Warriors, pinning his opponent in just 42 seconds in the 133lb weight class. Meekins gave the Warriors six points to take an early commanding lead.

In the 141lb weight class, Victor Guzman (Rock Island, IL/Rock Island) scored a technical fall after winning his match 21-6. Guzman, ranked No. 7 in the individual national rankings, jumped out to an early in 6-0 in the first round and never looked back against Aidan Harris, ranked No. 5 in the individual national rankings.

Jacob Ramirez (Metairie, LA/Archbishop Rummel) was victorious in the 149lb weight class after scoring a major decision with a 13-4 victory. Ramirez built an early 6-2 lead and extended its to 8-3 after two rounds before pulling away for the freshman's first collegiate dual victory.

No. 7 ranked Cameron Nesbitt (Champaign, IL/Centennial) scored a crucial victory in the 165lb weight class to help put the team scoring out of reach for the Warriors. Trailing 6-3 after two rounds, Nesbitt made a late surge in the third round to tie the match at 6-all before earning a final point on riding time to take the decision.

Deron Pulliam (Columbus, OH/Dublin Scioto), ranked No. 1 in the national rankings after earning All-American status as a freshman scored a 3-2 decision in the 184lb weight class. With the match knotted at two in the third round, Pulliam's defensive strategy paid off and secured a final point to put the Warriors ahead 21-9 in team scoring.

Khris Walton (Merrillville, IN/Merrillville) scored two quick points to set the tone early in the 197lb weight class. The No. 6 ranked wrestler in the nation used a series of falls to cruise to a 7-1 victory for Indian Hills.

The final match of the night in the heavyweight class saw Caleb Collins (East Peoria, IL/East Peoria) pull away late to cap the scoring for the Warriors. After a scoreless first round, Collins eventually took home a 7-2 decision for the Warriors.

The Warriors' homestand continues with a dual vs. Ellsworth Community College at 7:00 PM on Nov. 17 in the Multi-Purpose Building.
